FILM-COLLECTIVISME
"Only that which is lost is ever possessed." — Walter Benjamin
Purpose
This is a collective filmmaking experiment. You are one link in a long chain. The camera has passed through many hands before yours—and will pass through many more. Each person contributes a short, self-contained piece of footage. The final film will be assembled later.
What You Must Do
1. Shoot a short video (2–5 minutes).
- Interpret the quote however you wish.
- Your contribution can be documentary, interview, performance, fiction, or abstract.
- Do not edit or colorgrade. I will handle this myself. Your objective is to shoot footage.
- Be artistically independent. You are not continuing a story or theme from others.
2. Respect the timeline.
- You may keep the camera for no more than 7 days. Sooner is better.
- When finished, pass it to someone you trust. No strangers. Pass to someone who will take it seriously.
3. You are part of a chain.
- If you are the 12th person to receive this camera, you must not pass it on but return it. Contact the original owner using the information in the camera pouch or QR link.
- If memory is almost full, return it early. Do not erase others' work.
4. Do not delete or alter previous material.
- Every piece, no matter how raw, is part of the experiment. Do not edit, rename, or judge others' footage.
- Do not watch it unless you must for technical reasons.
5. Follow basic ethics.
- No filming anyone without consent.
- No footage that puts people at legal or personal risk.
- No hate speech, pornography.
- Do not damage the camera.
- Be honest.
6. Crossing borders is allowed.
- You can take the camera to a different country or region. Just respect the timeline and the trust.
7. Fill out the form.
- Upon receiving the camera, fill out a short Google Form. This is for crediting purposes and to help track the chain. You may use an alias. No spam, no tracking.
- If you refuse to be credited, you may leave some information blank, but still pass on the camera.
